Smriti irani was rejected by Jet Airways, here's why.. |
At an event organised by the Air Passengers Association of India in New Delhi, Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani said she was rejected by Jet Airways when she had applied for the job of cabin crew and they rejected her for not having a ‘good personality’.
The minister, who later took up a job at McDonald’s and then went on to pursue a career in television, said she was thankful for the rejection. Well, we all know how that worked out for her right? Youngest Cabinet minister, anyone!
“I don’t know if many people know that one of the first jobs that I wanted, and I lined up for, was cabin crew at Jet (Airways). I was rejected because I was told I don’t have a good personality. Thank God for your rejection. After that, I got a job at McDonald’s and the rest is history,” Irani said after presenting an award to a Jet Airways official.
While she shared her moving experience, people on social media were least sympathetic towards the minister and didn’t spare trolling her, despite her touching story. The incident she shared highlights the obsession of aviation industry with ‘good looks’, which in itself could be a topic of discussion on social media, especially after the episode came from Irani. But Twitterati had a different reaction altogether, rather than appreciating Irani’s professional journey, they trolled her instead.
